No. We provide cleaning, maintenance and repair services only for jewellery purchased from John Macintyre & Son. We cannot accept jewellery purchased elsewhere for general repairs.

Yes. Bespoke consultations are open to all customers for diamond engagement rings, diamond jewellery, diamond eternity rings and shaped wedding bands, either plain or diamond set. Designs are available in 9ct and 18ct gold or platinum, with mined and lab-grown diamond options.

For some designs, we can consider using your own diamonds, rubies, sapphires or emeralds. We would need to examine the stones first to check their condition and suitability.

Yes. We offer both mined and lab-grown diamonds. We can explain the differences and help you choose the right option for your design and price range during your consultation.

Yes. Our website shows only a small selection of the many designs we can create. If you see a design online or a sample in our showroom, we can discuss adapting it—for example, by increasing the diamond carat weight, choosing a different metal, or changing a half eternity ring to a full eternity design. There is a wide range of options, and we can explain what may be possible for your chosen design.

No. For new mounts and remounts, we supply new precious metal to the agreed specification. We do not melt down or reuse gold or platinum you already own. For example, if you have a diamond in a mount and want it reset, we will return your original mount to you.

Possibly. We can assess mined or lab-grown diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies you already own for possible use in a new design. Each stone must be inspected before we can confirm its condition and suitability for the proposed design. Please bring the original grading report, if available.

Not always. We’ll first consider whether an existing design can achieve the result you have in mind. If you need a shaped wedding band, we have a much wider range of designs to explore in store, as well as a large catalogue of options. A mount you’ve seen may also be available in a different carat weight or with a different centre stone shape. If none of these options are suitable, we can discuss whether a CAD design is the right next step.

The price depends on the design, metal, diamond or gemstone specification and work involved.

A CAD design costs £25 or £50, depending on the design. If you proceed with the piece, the fee is deducted from the final cost. Thanks to our team’s experience, we can usually give you a rough price at your consultation. Depending on the design, we may also be able to confirm the price on the day.

Timescales depend on the design and the work involved. The initial stages, such as preparing a CAD design, can take up to two weeks. The full process—from consultation and design approval through making, setting and finishing—can take around six to eight weeks. Some remounts may be completed sooner if a suitable mount is available in the right ring size and can accommodate your stone. We’ll confirm the expected timescale before work begins.
